If you want to save momey,you must first econimize moeny, that is to say , to spend money in the most reasonable way so that money can be best used and saved. If you spare money , that means you don't spend any money at all.This seems illogical,because you must pay some money for daily necessities.
economize及物动词和不及物动词都能做；save是不及物动词，都主要是“节约，节省”的意思，没特别的区别。
eg. We want the economize on water, must start from the cherishing water.我们要节约用水，就要从爱惜水做起。
