In Spain, people eat 12 grapes on New Year's Eve.On the last day of the old year, the 31st of December, they stay up until midnight.Everybody has twelve grapes ready to eat when the clock starts to strike twelve. When it is mid-night,each time the clock strikes, they put a grape in their mouth.By the time the clock finishes striking, everybody has to eat up their grapes and the New Year starts. This is a very funny tradition because everybody starts the New Year with a mouth full of grapes. It's almost impossible to finish eating the grapes by the time the clock finishes striking.Usually people still have all the grapes in their mouths, and they look at each other and laugh.
