Proponens of the southern-origin theory point out that early rice-farming societies along the Yangtze were already highly developed and that evidence for he first stage of rice cultivation is misssing. 
这句话,and这个连词不是表示前后是并列关系,逻辑上是一致的吗?
但是为什么and前面说的意思是支持长江流域是是rice的发源地,而and后面却反对江流域是是rice的发源地?
求朋友帮忙答疑解惑啊.

大致就是就是这么个感觉：长江流域没有前期发展的证据,只有高度发展后的样子.
