I think the reason for this is the boosting of China's overall national strength. Then We cooperated with more countries and in more fields. The word hears more voice from China than before. More and more people get to know China. During all the mentioned processed, Chinese, as a tool for communication, is badly necessary.
As for the influence and benifit, this trend will raise the popularity of Chinaese and broadcast Chinese culture. Maybe someday when you go to Europe or some place esle, chinese is usable there just like presently in Singapore.
