Of course not.Natural disasters are a part of life on Earth. This is tornado season. The number and intensity of tornadoes varies from year to year and this just happens to be a bad one so far.Take a look at the list of F5 tornadoes on the wikipedia link.Look at 1974 and 1953.My nephew's home was destroyed by the one in Andover,Kansas in 1991.I have lived in tornado alley all my life and I've seen many years like this.I remember the Topeka tornado in 1966.My brother came home and was telling about the weatherman,Bill Kurtis, who was credited with saving many lives. He was trying to think what to say to make people take it seriously. He said,"For God's sake, get to shelter NOW!" That one tore through the middle of Topeka and the death toll was only 16.
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita were in 2005.Every decade since the beginning of systematic weather record keeping in the 1850s has had a major hurricane.Although the decade from 2000-2009 now holds the record for the most category 5 hurricane (8),the previous record was the 1960's with 6 category 5s.The deadliest hurricane on record is the Great Hurricane of 1780 which killed 25,000 people. The next deadliest was Hurricane Mitch in 1998,which caused flooding and landslides that killed between 13,000 and 20,000 people. The third deadliest was the Galveston Hurricane in 1900 (6,000-12,000 deaths). You can see how the timing shows no preference for recent hurricans. The most recent of these was 14 years before 2012.The deadliest was 222 years before 2012.Of the 43 dealiest hurricanes in history, only 3 were after 2000.
The oil spill was a man-made disaster and can't even be considered as remotely natural.
Earthquakes aren't increasing in frequency or magnitude. We expect an average of one great earthquake (8.0 and above) per year. Both Haiti and Japan are seismically active areas. The reason there were so many deaths in Haiti was because the epicenter was near a large city and the buildings were not built to be earthquake resistant. It was dwarfed, however,by the deadliest quake in history. It occurred in 1556 (455 years ago) in Shaanxi Province,China. The death toll was 830,000.
The Japan quake was only the 3rd most powerful since we've had the ability to record earthquakes (110 years). The most powerful on record was the magnitude 9.5 at Valdivia,Chile in 1960.The 2nd most powerful was the magnitude 9.2 Alaska earthquake in 1964.
Also our ability to detect eathquakes has increased dramatically as more seismograph stations are added. We have about 8,000 now as compared to 350 in 1931.
As you can see, these things have always happened. They are not more frequent than in the past. There is no reason at all to connect any of these events with the fake doomsday.
