My aunt is good at Japanese,I have asked her why she spoke Japanese so well.She told me she started to study Japanese because of Japanese cartoon.In other words,she study Japanese by watching Japanese cartoon.Nowadays,it’s very popular for us to watch American TV dramas.As a kind of language,English is similar to Japanese.So I think watching American TV dramas is a new way to make you English study easier and more interesting. Have you ever learned English by watching American TV dramas? Is that an effective English learning method for you?

A excellent fellow student which studied in our school and now is studying in England return to our school and made a speech to give us some advice about English study.when she studied in a university,she was crazy about watching American TV dramas and English TV dramas.She spent plenty of time watching them.At the same time,her level of English was enhanced unwittingly,As the result,her grades of The IELTS are exceedingly good.

In our school,teachers sometimes show us some American movies,such as《Homeless to Harvard》,《Facing the Giants》……All of us like this kind of activity.We think it is useful to improve our spoken English. As a result of insufficient English speaking environment, our speaking and listening abilities were not developed satisfactorily, although our reading and writing abilities were all right. Our English told us English is a tool which is used to communicate.So English should be used to speak and listen to,instead of just read and write.

But some people think watching American TV dramas is bad for students’ grades because some students always spend more time watching dramas,instead of studying.But I don’t agree wish them.First,watching American TV dramas can make our pronunciation much better and help us become nearly as fluent as a native English speaker.Second,watching American TV dramas can make you be interested in English study,even fall in love with English.As the saying does,interest is the best teacher.If you like to study English,your English grades will be better and better.Third,we can acquaintance foreign culture and wide our knowledge.

Most parents, in recent years, have shown concern on the phenomenon of children spending unparalleled more time watching television programs. Whether it is beneficial for the growth of children remains to be seen.

There is no denying the fact that children nowadays gain a wider access to the real world through televisions. A wider view of the world keeps them informed of the latest advance in science and discoveries in all aspects. Moreover, with mountains of funny programs and shows, televisions offer the young an extra choice of out-class life, which at least guarantees their safety and wipe out the possibilities of getting hurt during outdoor activities.

Disadvantages are also prominent. Numerous children waste most of their time in the couch watching soap operas, which results in a national lack of proper exercise and causes a lot of physical problems. What’s worse, some teleplays inevitably contain scenes of violence and pornography that may exert undesirable influence on the adolescents who watch them. The rate of juvenile delinquency rises as with the quantities of

criminal TV series being broadcasted.

From my perspective of view, children should have limits in watching television, not addicted. They ought to find the world with their own eyes, not just through cameras. The real world looks far more gorgeous than on the screen.
