1. In your dreams.

和 “Not in your life.” (注意一下,“In your dreams.”

A: Can you lend me two thousand dollars?

B: In your dreams.

A: Do you want to be my girlfriend?

B: Not in your life.

2. Don't even think about parking here.

但是如果要强调此处真的是不准停车,老美会说:“Don't even think about parking here.” Don't even think about lying. Don't even think about it!

3. Over my dead body.

例如别人问你:“Could you clean up the bird poop on my car?” 你的回答就可以是 “Over my dead body.

而 Chandler 的回答就更妙了:“I'll use his dead body as a shield.

B: Get real! According to our research, there is no market for our product in Africa.

get real

B : Forget it! Get real! She married a rich businessman.

According to etiquette, you should stand up to meet a guest.

According to their own accounts, they had barely managed to scrape through.

There is no market for...

Ps 3:develop a market:开发市场 develop a market for something:开发......

]I like reading, especially for detective novel. I love recreating thescene from the novel in my mind, and I'm really fancy the brightdetective who are created by the writer. However, some peopleargue that reading detective novel is nothing but a waste oftime, since you have the time to read, why don't you readsome book that could learn useful knowledge. But I cannot agree with it.

In the first place, reading detective novel is a good way to learnlots new knowledge from one book. For instance, almost all of the detective novel included theknowledge of investigation, psychology, behavior analysis, and some even involved the aspect ofphysical and chemistry. The writer perfectly used that knowledge to write into the fiction, whichmake the reader learn it naturally. Hence, reading detective novel is not a bad thing, it will help youreview your academic knowledge and learn something you don't know before. In the second place, reading detective novel is like some kind of brainstorming game. When youare reading novel which is every exciting, your mind will follow the plot that will set your wits towork. On another word, reading a detective novel is not only could make you feel relaxed but alsocould make you become smarter than before.

To sum up, there is great benefit to read detective novel. You could totally enjoy the pleasure thatthe intelligent detective bring to you,and you could be smarter.

You're the girl in my dream。

I'm thinking of you every second。

It is universally acknowledged that you are indispensible tome。

Loving you is closely to my life。

I have searched a thousand years. And I have cried a thousand tears. I found everything I need.You are everything to me。

For years I had been searching for that perfect fantasy. But I find it in my arms right now. You areall tome。

When I met you I knew I would forever be by your side --forever your partner and forever yourlove。

I asked God for a rose & he gave me a garden. I asked God for a drop of water & he gave me anocean. I asked God for an angel & he gave me you! One day you ask me: what's more importantto you, me or your life? I'll say my life and you'll go and leave without even knowing that you aremy life. My eyes are hurting because I can't see you. My arms are empty because I can't hold you.My lips are cold because I can't kiss you. My heart is breaking because I'm not with you。

Honey, how do I live without you? I miss you every minute and every second。 Within you I lose myself, without you I find myself wanting to be lost again。

You are the one I have been looking for。

I can think of nothing else but your dazzling smile。

I will always keep a warm place in my heart for you。

My heart beats for you every day. I am inspired by you every minute, and I worry about youevery second. It is wonderful to have you in my life。

Every beat of my heart, loudly cries your name, I want so much to be with you, oh, please, please,feel the same。

I am looking for a word. I am looking for a whole new word. I am looking for a word. I am lookingfor a word that nobody knows. I am looking for a word. I am looking for a word that says...thatyou are the best!

If you are the wind, I am the sand。

If you are the shoe, I am the brush。

If you don't love me, I just wanna die。

如果你是风,我就是沙;

如果你是鞋,我就是刷;

Your eyes close, I die; your eyes open, I come back alive. Your eyes close and open again andagain, I die and come back time after time.

I will not beat you, not scold you, but torture you with all my love。

Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be。

I love you not because of who you are, but because of who I am when I am with you。

Thank me for loving you no way anyone has ever tried。

My dearest, can I call you like this? If you agree, don’t phone me; if not, please send me thismessage "I miss you so much."

If you want a cute baby, and you are still worried about this, then I will advice that you marry me!

My family name is ―I‖, first name is ―love you‖, and surname is ―miss you‖; my cognomen is―understand you‖, appellation is―feel badly about you‖, epithet is ―think of you‖ , book nameis―dream of you‖, nickname is ―chase you‖. You can call me I kiss you。

1. Struggle on

My brothers and sisters.I want you to know that the struggle that we will face

through the remaining period of the eighties and on through the twenty-first century will not be an easy one. It is fraught with pitfalls and plagued with setbacks, but we as a people have developed a resiliency

which has made it possible for us to survive slavery and vicious discrimination.

We must never tire or become frustrated by difficulties.

We must transform stumbling blocks into stepping stones and march on with the determination

that we will make America a better nation…

Struggle on: we want more schoolhouses and less jail houses,

Struggle on: We want more books and less weapons,

Struggle on: We want more learning and less vice,

Struggle on: We want more employment and less crime in our communities

Struggle on: We want more justice and less vengeance,

Struggle on: We want more of our children to graduate from high school able to read and write,

not more on unemployment lines.

Struggle on: We want more statesmen and less politicians.

Struggle on: We want more workers in our ranks and less cynics,

Struggle on: We want more hope and less dope,

Struggle on: We want more faith and less despair…

2. Why are You Laughing?

Thus laughter gradually became established as a capacity among virtually all human beings.

In addition, laughter’s infectious quality helped distribute it as a characteristic common to all

mankind. Laughter was advantageous; therefore it survived.Everyone likes a good laughter;

he brings good cheer with him wherever he goes,the very thought of him makes life more bearable.

Even today our most highly paid entertainers are not tragedians but comedians.

Laughter is infectious, and most of us go out of our way to acquire the infection.

We cannot think that it was otherwise in the earlier days of man’s evolution,

and if that was indeed so, then it would follow that the capacity to laugh would tend to become increasingly distributed as a trait common to all men.

In society, laughter became a characteristic that served to “humanized” men,

because it is essentially a social phenomenon,

largely controlled by the civilization in which it takes place.

The times change, and the situations about which laughter is acceptable change correspondingly.

A few hundred years ago it was socially acceptable to laugh at the infirmities of others;

today it is unacceptable.

In the western world it is not customary to smile at the reprimands of others,as it is in Japan. Personalities should smile or laugh in their photographs,

but college professors should look serious.

Each of these examples underscores laughter’s social function.

3.Let Your Mind Wonder

Until recently daydreaming was generally considered either a waste of time or a symptom of neurotic tendencies, and habitual daydreaming was regarded as evidence of maladjustment or an escape from

life’s realities and responsibilities.

It was believed that habitual daydreaming would eventually distance people from society and reduce their effectiveness in coping with real problems.

At its best, daydreaming was considered a compensatory substitute for the real things in life.

As with anything carried to excess, daydreaming can be harmful.

There are always those who would substitute fantasy lives for the rewards of real activity.

But such extremes are relatively rare,

and there is a growing body of evidence to support the fact that most people suffer from a lack of

daydreaming rather than an excess of it.

We are now beginning to learn how valuable it really is and that when individuals are completely prevented from daydreaming, their emotional balance can be disturbed.

Not only are they less able to deal with the pressures of day-to-day existence,

but also their self-control and self-direction become endangered.

Recent research indicates that daydreaming is part of daily life and

that a certain amount each day is essential for maintaining equilibrium.

Daydreaming, science has discovered, is an effective relaxation technique.

But its beneficial effects go beyond this. Experiments show that daydreaming

significantly contributes to intellectual growth, powers of concentration, and the ability to

interact and communicate with others.

4.Pens

Small as it is, the pen has changed the course of history, shaped the destiny of nations,

facilitated the commerce of peoples, imprisoned the elusive thoughts of man, recorded events,

carried news, and done more work for mankind than all other tools or weapons.

Progress without it would have been almost impossible. The invention of the wheel and screw,

the introduction of steam-power, the use of electricity, all these have changed the lives of millions;

but the pen has done more.

It has removed mountains. It has prepared the way for all advancement.

Whatever plans have been drawn up, whatever laws formulated, have come from the pen.

蒸汽机的问世,电力的使用,所有这些都曾改变了亿万人的生活;

5. The embarassment of our age

We have bigger houses and smaller families; more conveniences, but less time;

we have more degrees,but less common sense;

more knowledge,but less judgment; more experts, but more problems;

more medicine, but less wellness.

We spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get to angry too quickly, stay up too

late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too often, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values.

We talk too much, love too little and lie too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life;

we’ve added years to life. not life to years.

We have taller buildings, but shorter tempers; wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less; we buy more, but enjoy it less.

We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new

neighbor.

We’ve conquered outer space, but not inner space.

We’ve split the atom,but not our prejudice;

We write more, but learn less; plan more, but accomplish less.

We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait; we have higher incomes, but lower morals.

We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies, but have less communication. We are long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion; tall men and short character; steep profits

and shallow relationships. More leisure and less fun; more kinds of food, but less nutrition;

two incomes, but more divorce; fancier houses, but broken homes.

我们居住的房屋越来越宽敞,家庭却越来越小型化;

可以享受的生活便利日益增多,属于自己的时间却日趋减少;

我们获得了一张又一张学位证书,却愈加频繁地陷入对常识的茫然中;

我们广泛地涉猎各类知识,却越来越缺乏对于外界事物的准确把握和判断;

这是一个快餐食品和消化迟缓相伴的时代;

一个体格高大和性格病态并存的时代;

我们的休闲多了。乐趣却少了;食品种类多了,营养却少了;

6.How To Grow Old

Bertrand Russell

An individual human existence should be like a river

small at first, narrowly contained within its banks, and rushing passionately past boulders and over waterfalls. Gradually the river grows wider, the banks recede,the waters flow more quietly,

and in the end, without any visible break, they become merged in the sea, and painlessly lose their individual being. The man who, in old age, can see his life in this way,

will not suffer from the fear of death, since the things he cares for will continue.

And if, with the decay of vitality, weariness increases, the thought of rest will be not unwelcome.

I should wish to die while still at work, knowing that others will carry on what I can no longer do,

and content in the thought that what was possible has been done.
