Memories and success

Without our past, even if it was either plaintive or gloomy, ourfuture would be a sinuous path leading to nowhere surrounded by darkness.Success is no t easy; it takes efforts, calm and determination. Inorder to gain superior achievements, it is requisite to collect allpieces of the jigsaw which include memories from our past, andintegrate it into our future. Even though in the past we madeerrors, but these will only improve our ability and guide us tomake insightful decisions in the future.

Last year, the literature class offered a video project that wewere required to make a video of “King Lear”. All the students weredivided into different shooting groups, and each one of the teamwill portray a character in the play, which includes linesmemorizing, studying the inner thoughts, and emphasize the theme ofthe play at junctures. I was auditioning as “King Lear” in mygroup, and to my detriment I thought it would be a thorough plan tostudy the movie in order to prepare. I spent over three hoursstudying the movie’s attitude, gestures, and emotional variationson diverse lines. I was so enthralled to the movie and confident Ican mimic the performance vividly on my own. My first try out was,indeed, a successful one. But out of my astonishment, I did not getthe part. Later I recognized the fact that the director knewexactly what I knew, he told me that currently I can not achieve askillful performance like the actor does in the movie, so he neededto see “King Lear” from my perspective, from pure emotion after Ihave read the play.

I was first heart-struck at first, but after a while I realizedthat the director was right. So from that moment I chose not toimitate anyone’s performance, but to spend time on reading,comprehending and practicing. Raring, I was quiet overwrought whenmy final chance of audition arrived. My experience with “KingLear”, an ironic role who betrayed by his daughters, misunderstoodthe beloved, loyal one, and eventually receives a tragical ending,was now going to be marked with a period. I planned my performanceas I thought it should be, gave indignantly gestures and tones Ithought were, and blossom the character’s beauty completely. Aftermy performance, the director told me that my performance was thebest he has ever saw, it would be a gigantic success to give me thepart. Considering back to my first performance, an aborted oneobviously, but I learned from it and grew, because without theprevious failure I would have no idea how deviant I was. I utilizedthe memory of the past to improve my ability on performing and gavethe greatest performance in my acting career so far.

一、SAT作文出题形式

SAT作文题目由Prompt(背景)和Assignment(任务，题目)两部分组成。

Prompt是给考生提供理解Assignment的线索，而Assignment中的问题则要求在文章中作答。

二、SAT作文出题的特点

由于SAT是针对高中生升大学的考试，因此写作话题不需要具备单项的专业背景知识，但话题涉及范围却非常广泛，包括文学、艺术、运动、政治、技术、科学、历史及时事。

三、SAT作文考查重点

SAT作文主要考察的是考生在一定时间内就某个特定话题给出观点并用各种具体论证手段加以支持分析的能力，不要偏题是基本要求。

SAT写作与其他留学写作考试(如新托福)的定位非常不同。

新托福是语言能力测试，而SAT作为入学考试，更注重考察一个学生的逻辑推理能力，要求学生的论证严密、有效、有力。

四、SAT作文备考的技巧

SAT作文的准备从两个方面进行，分别是例子和文章结构。

例子的准备是为了使文章更为丰富，通常一篇文章至少需要两个例子。

文章结构的准备则需要考生掌握一些词汇，语法和句法，参考一些模板和范文。

五、SAT作文时间分配

SAT作文考试是为时25分钟的限时写作，但作文的字数没有硬性规定。

如果我们参照官方提供的样卷，会发现6分的作文需填满一页半A4纸，基本等同于400字数。

六、SAT写作评分方式和标准

写作：选择题正确个数减去错误个数乘以四分之一后，四舍五入到最近整数得到选择题原始分，再配合作文(0-12分)分值，通过换算表(根据考试难易度每次调整)换算为200～800分的最终成绩。

SAT写作评分标准原则：

SAT作文6分的判分标准为，完整掌握、见解深刻、技巧娴熟；5分的判分标准为，有说服力、文章组织较好、语言使用有变化且准确；4分的判分标准为，会写作文、内容足够、表达充分。从这里可以看出，国内考生通过有效的辅导与训练，获取作文8分的成绩不难，英语基础好的考生，取得作文9至10分的成绩很有可能。

一篇好的SAT作文要满足如下几个要求，即好的内容、好的论点与论据、清晰且恰当的举例说明、段与段之间有好的逻辑关系、观点鲜明与清晰及较好的英语写作掌控力、有变化的句型与词汇。
