Abstract:a novel series of silicone-modified polyester (SMP-polyester) has been prepared by the reaction of
organopolysiloxane with hydroxyl terminated polyester.The polyesters are obtained by the polymerization of maleic anhydride (MA) and polyethylene glycols (PEGs).These SMP-polyesters are water-soluble and can be used as auxiliaries in the dyeing process because they exhibit good surface activities such as surface tension,low foaming and wetting power.The SMP-polyesters can be successfully employed as an auxiliary in dyeing polyester fabric with disperse dyes at elevated temperatures without occurrence of creases.
Introduction:
In modern textile dyeing processes,such as the rapid dyeing of polyester fabrics by jet dyeing machines,the speed of polyester fabrics movement by circulating dye liquor is faster than that in the normal dyeing method.Creasing or scarring of fabrics is often encountered in the fast moving fabric during the dyeing process.in most cases,auxiliaries and scars on fabrics by providing lubrication or softening of the fabrics during dyeing.Commercial silicone surfactants formulated into an emulsion by the addition of emulsifiers are used as lubricants or softeners of the fabrics.However,commercial silicone surfactants can not be used for anti-creasing despite their ability to soften the fabrics for anti-creases because de-emulsion will occur under dyeing conditions at elevated temperatures and because the aggregation of disperse dye particles present in the dyeing system form rapidly as a result of the hydrophobic interaction between disperse dye particles and silicone surfactants with hydrophobic character as well.In the process of dyeing polyester fabrics,this aggregation causes dyeing polyester fabrics,this aggregation causes dyed polyester fabrics to appear unleveled or specked.
