How can we give up?
Good morning, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Yuki. I’m from Dagang NO.7 Middle School. I’m so glad to have this opportunity to stand here to make this speech for you. The title of my speech is, “How can we give up?”
We all know there is an old saying, “No pains, No gains.” I think everyone’s experience can prove it, including me. When I was a primary school student, I was interested in so many different things. So I took lots of lessons in my free time. I have learnt piano, guitar and so on . At first, I thought they were amazing, because we can play wonderful music with those music instruments. But after I had three or four lessons, I changed my attitude. They were too boring and need so much practicing. Although my mother told me “No pains, No gains.” almost three times a day, I dropped my piano lesson two years later. But how interesting, I watched a show of popular music these days , and I saw a friend of mine there. Actually, she was my classmate who learned piano with me at that time. She told me that she had been kept on learning the piano for another two years until now and what is more, she had made great progress in piano playing. I really envy her, and I also regretted for myself. But now I can’t do anything about it, how could I give up at that time?
Maybe animals did even better than me in some ways, just like ants. They made me admired. Once, I saw an ant in the garden. It moved very fast with a big rice grain on its back. But it stopped at a hill. The ant went around the hill for several times, and then began to climb it. Whenever it came up to the middle of the hill, I would let it down intentionally by using a wood stick. But whatever I did, the ant just tried again and again. I was moved by the spirit of the ant. They never stop, never give up.
Whenever I think of this, I always get excited. I have already known that, when we meet some problems during our trip, just calm down and come over it with the help of ourselves.
There’s the same truth in our English studying. Perhaps, we won’t make a big progress in a short time, but I will always hold on and keep on hard-working. Or, you won’t see me on today’s stage, right?
And as we all know, good things always comes late. So we must be patient, And the success will get close to us,all of our dreams will come true.I believe, a smile is creeping on your face, if you want to. You'll live through your pain heroically.
Never give up. Go on fighting.
Thanks for listening.

When I was a kid, I mean about 10 or around, I played a lot of basketball with my friends, though we played together,it was kind of separate game, we just tried to grabbed the ball ourselves and shot the hoop. One day, my dad came to see us playing, when he found out we were playing that way, he called us a time out and got us around him, "guys" he said, "basketball should not be played like you do, it's a teamwork game, you couldn't just focus on yourself, it is about to win like a team, if one of your teammate is wild open, why don't you pass the ball to him? he could make a easy shot". and than, my father divided us into two teams, and we started playing, I didn't know why at that time, when I passed the ball to my friend, and he scored, I felt happy, too. yes, that was the first lesson I learnt about teamwork, and it has profound impact on me in future.
