楼主写论文是大事,我想应该多花时间替楼主总结一下楼上各位的说法,这也就解释了为何我建议我这样译的理由：
1)首先,各楼都没有注意用复数.study ,research 和movie 都应该是复数.加The用来特指也行.但现在这样不行.一些著名的论文题目就是：Researches on Population Ecology；Researches on Ingeniously Behaving Agents.
2)中外魔幻题材影视研究,二楼译得最好,但research用了单数.而且有个致命伤是没有译出"中外”一词中的“中国”.英文是世界语言,人家不知道你这national是指何国.
3) 一楼的译法“Research of magic and imagination subject movie of China and foreign countries”中,Research和movie都要加复数,否则要加The,即特指.意思都说到了.不过如果是个论文题目,不太像题目.imagination的译法也有可商权之处.
4) 我不是电影研究专业的,对电影的"小镇情结"一点不了解,为此深感三楼加引号的做法,有很大的必要.
5) 译出“中外”有几种方法,用得最多的是：SINO-FOREIGN.例子极多：Sino-foreign Field Case study；Sino-American Buddhist Association；
Sino-Foreign Cooperative Enterprises；Sino-foreign joint ventures；
Sino-Foreign University Presidents Forum；sino-foreign research publications；Sino-International Trade Consulting & Service Co.Ltd
很少用international的.所以我建议楼主用SINO-FOREIGN.
