as是很多学生容易混淆却又是考试常考到的部分.但是作为连词,楼主只要记住下面的用法就可以了.
as 作为连词,有四种用法：
1.引导原因状语从句,语气次于because.表示：因为
2.引导伴随状语从句,表示：随着.楼主请注意：和with表伴随的结构不同.as后跟句子,with+名词+分词
3.引导让步状语从句,需要倒装.表示：虽然、尽管.这也是语法考试中常考到的.
4.引导比较状语从句,表示：就如、就像.
楼主的句子就是属于第四种的意思,即：正如、就像等
但一般连词后面如果不是句子,谓语就要变成非谓语,通常表现为doing或者done的形式,取决于是主动还是被动.所以楼主的句子中as即如此：没有主语,谓语be perceived 变成了perceived.（但是as比较特殊,所以后面是as is perceived也是可以的.）
译文：肥胖最直接的后果,如孩子们所能理解的,是社会歧视.
