INTRODUCTION
It is inherent in the measurement field that
the construction of more accurate calibrators
requires the discovery of more accurate means of
verifying their performance.The commercial introduction
of high accuracy,phase angle calibrators [l]
several years ago focused our attention on high
accuracy,easy to implement,and where possible
reasonably equipment insensitive,methods of phase
measurement.This papers presents the results of this
investigation together with experimental results from
all of the different approaches.
It turns out that some of these techniques are
quite basic and may be directly applied by users of
such equipment both to verify that it is working
today the same way that it worked yesterday or the
day before and also to provide a means of achieving
the often imposed requirement that the phase calibration
instrument be traceable to some national or
intrinsic phase standard.
