Some people believe that government spends too much money on space research while there are still a lot of problems on the earth.Do you agree or disagree
In a world of being inflicted by major economic crises,people has more reasons to question the legitimacy of the space research which demands a tremendous amount of resources while other more pressing issues like social security problems under high unemployment rates might be better solved with the resources.I unconditionally side with this perspective for roughly three reasons.
First,a world in disastrous economic crises has set the tune for this controversial issue.We cannot imagine that even there is an extra fund,substantial enough for a space research project,
would rather not be allocated to economic rehabilitation programs than spend on some exploration program on Mars,which can hardly yield a favorable,if any,outcome within a short period of time.
Second,although we do appreciate the significance of space research,the benefits of it do take decades for us to digest and be able to transfer them into the real common lives.On the contrary,the funds spent on those projects could have achieved more concrete and commendable success if they were distributed into some social welfare programs.
The last but not the least,let us simply speculate,would a highly developed economy and society rectified and reinforced with part of the funds initially intended for space research stand a better chance of providing sustainable resources for space research?
It naturally comes to an unassailable conclusion after the elaboration of reasons that government is most likely to be a wiser spender by diverting a good portion of superfluous space research funds to needier components of society.
