A.美式英语一般都不把need作为情态动词,而只是作为一般的及物动词,后面可以加动词不定时和名次.例如：I need to go,I need you.
B.英式英语里,need作为情态动词使用就广泛了.
感觉这个考题出的不好,典型的中国式的思维出的英语考题!

我认为是D`` 这里是两个句子不是吗？

我觉得都是对的
A是need做实义动词
D是做情态动词 need做情态动词的时候没有时态变化

只能选A。
因为D用的一般现在时，而前面的There was是一般过去时，为了保持一致，这里也应该用一般过去式。
