On Sunday night, when I was about to go to bed, a terrible earthquake occurred. The ground shook ferociously and I could barely stand up straight.
I looked out of the window. Outside, the trees were all shaking, with leaves scattering everywhere. Buildings began to lean sideways, as if they were about to topple over.
I realised how dangerous this is and I immediately rushed out of the door as I believe it would be safer for me to stay in the open ground.
The quake lasted for 2 minutes according to the news. However, it seemed to last an eternity to me. After it finally finished, I observed around the town. Many buildings collapsed, cars had their windows smashed and trees were uprooted.
It was a horrible scene. However, miraculously, there was no one killed in this disaster.
I felt I was the luckiest person in the world to survive such a traumatic ordeal. I was happy to be safe and alive.
