但原句中的themselves的位置总觉得很不顺呢,“sewage disposal into the sources themselves,”,这什么原因呢?总觉得反身代词应和sewage disposal 搭配（若不考虑单复数的话~）
像“I found it myself”就是和I而不是it
若“Tom found John himself”这种情况下又指的是那个?Tom还是John?

我们阅读很多时候就是要通过语法去推敲到底代词指的是谁呀.这个复数正好就是这样作用.
不考虑单复数,你还加这个themselves做什么呢?加了你怎么理解呢?
“I found it myself”中你纠结的应该是myself的位置了,读起来的时候myself是重读的.你在讲话中表示强调是可以把myself放在I后面去的,只是英语习惯上将表达句义重点的主位放在前面,其他成分放在后面（即脑袋小屁股大） ,（这也就是为什么很多时候用it做形式代词） 如果换成itself,完全没有必要了从理解上来说. 如：It is easily understood why he skip classed to sleep in the dorm. 其实后面的why句子才是主语.
“Tom found John himself”这种情况下又指的是那个?Tom他自己找到的John（而不是别人找到的或者别人帮助他找到的）.
你理解成指的是John的话,那什么意思呢?不符合常理.
