吊灯事件后整整六个月,歌剧院都没有Phantom的消息.,歌剧院举行的盛大舞会.Christine和Raoul已经订婚了,但是他们的订婚消息并没有公开,Christine的订婚戒指也一直被她偷偷挂在项链上面.舞会中间,Phantom忽然再次出现了,这一次,他妆扮成红色死神,并且交个剧院经理他呕心沥血所编写的剧本,《唐徨》.一开始,经理们不同意演出这个离奇而且怪异的剧本.但是Raoul提议他们可以先排练,再设计下圈套捕捉Phantom.几经商量,他们的计策逐渐成型,但是要用Christine做诱饵.
